Blog 8: Responding to a significant topic in The Truman Show

In the movie, The Truman Show, Cristoff the creator prepares what he called “the perfect world” for Truman. In His world people seem to be happy all the time, and it could not be more tentative for anyone to be there. If I would have to decide between the world where we are living and “the perfect world” of Cristoff, I definitely stay where I am today; because in that world of fantasy I could live with limited risks, but my life will have much less sense.
Sea heaven could be physical described as an urban paradise. Where every resident carry a smile on their face and the weather is not an impediment to any kind of activity. The town does not count with any history of violence and we can also say that they don’t know any kind of racial problem. Thus, the family that Truman greets every morning saying: “Good morning, and in case that I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night!” they are people of color, and by what they were wearing, they seem to have a decent economic status.  These are some of the problems that Cristoff is trying to leave out of his perfect world.
What he forgot to give them, maybe unintentional, is the motivation that gives people the reason to live. Cristoff had everything well calculated to keep Truman happy in sea heaven, but he did not have a satisfactory idea to calm Truman’s encouragement. When Truman was attending to college, he fell in love with a girl that he met. She also liked Truman but they could not develop their felling because that was not the plan to fallow.
He could not forget those bright blue eyes, and he found refuge in one red sweater that he got from her when she left it at the beach the night when they kissed. Sylvia was the boost that made him to discover the true, his motivation.
A similar significance to this movie has the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. Lowry describes a “save-perfect" community where every individual accomplishes a specific responsibility.  In the town all feeling that can provide people joy and pain; happiness and sadness has been taken away from them. There is only one person, the Elder of memories, who preserves all the senses in case they are need for emergency. One day he will have to retire and be replace for some one else, so Jonas, the main character of the story, has been selected as the candidate. He goes for his training and receives most of the basic feeling. Now he can see colors, he can taste, he knows what is love, hate, and etc. Jonas decides to take his litter brother, Gabriel, and flee the community because he feels so different that no one can understand him beside the Elder.
In occasions, like Jonas or Truman, we see ourselves living in a perfect conditions, but with the curiosity of many questions that no one can’t give us the answers. Is on us to go out to look for the answers and find the area were we belong to.
