I think that the producer of the Meatrix have taken the movie as a model because the similitude that exist between both. Like Neo in the Matrix, we as the consumer don not know the reality about from where our food comes . We have the general idea that milk, eggs and meat are happily produce in traditional farms.

Blog Entry 13: CAT-W Practice Revision
In March 31, 1999, Warner Bros. Picture released The Matrix. It is a fiction-action film starring with Keanu Reeves. Reeves is a computer programmer who called himself Neo. He is eager to find the true about The Matrix. He then is contacted by the people who run the world made out of a computer program, and after meeting them he has to decide between staying in, or going back to his ordinary life style. He accepts the challenges, and then he discovers that he is the one who has the skill to save the Matrix of its enemies (Source Wikipedia)
The Matrix is considered as a message film like many others movies. Some have said that the movie is a critic of how we, the human, are treating the world. Others have stated that the movie is a reflection of how we are slave of our own system. Every movie has a message; some more stronger than others, but at the end of the day it just a movie. I don’t think that we should take it that serious abut the moral of the Matrix, because the first goal of the movie is to make money, and on the other had there are hundreds of movies created each year with the same purpose.
The principal goal on the cinema producers is to make money out of their films; to change people’s mind could take a second place. The movies that are being releasing these days, are millionaires investments. Why entrepreneurs would put so much money in risk out there just to try to change the way how people think? An example is the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”. A film that cost only one million dollar to produce and have earned 50 millions gross revenue worldwide. I not saying that make money was the intention of the writer and stare of the film, AL Gore, but it was to the producers. Al Gore had tried and tried to get the attention of the world about his own theory of the negative impact of global worming. In one of his presentation he convinced Laurie David, and David convinced herself of the brilliant opportunity that she had of making a film out of that idea. As a result Al Gore is pleased that he got the attention of the world about the matter, but more than delighted are the producers who are still seeking for more ideas to bring them to the big screen.
Another reason why we should not care about of the message of the Matrix, is because there are so many movies with they different perspective. For a lover of the cinema entertainment like me, what we are looking for is to have fun; not to bring $12.50 to sell window tickets in exchange to be persuaded in 90 minutes. I believe last year I went to the theater at least fifteen times. It will be impossible for me to put in practice all the positive of those movie in my personal life. I don’t think I can fly from a building to another and stay alive.
So for those who have seen the Matrix and are dealing if what the movie is saying is significant or not; just remember how much fun did you have, for example looking at Trinity like I did, and move on. There are many others movies that are waiting for our attention.

Blog Entry 12: Reflection and Evaluation
Spring break is gone and with its start we had concluded our second series of this ENG-099 class. We start this series with the movie The Truman Show, from which I still amazed, followed by the Matrix. I had the opportunity to improve some of my skills as a CAT-writer, but I still have to overcome other challenges. There are others six weeks where I can get ready to meet the requirements to pass and enter to the 101 level.
We completed four blog entries plus two CAT practice in class. I could post all my blogs on the same day they were demanded; even if I have to completed them at home, or make them better over the weekends. About the text practices, one was returned and I passed with a few points extra of the minimum score, the other one was given by the CUNY department and they have not provided the results yet.
The two movie were very similar in theirs theme, but we focused on the Matrix. Thus, this is the source of inspiration of this course. We also had an online class discussion about the Matrix which was a new experience for me. I could get the point of view of the whole class from the comfortable sofa in my living room. The Matrix was so into our live those weeks that I could not blame a classmate who had dreamed with it overnight.
Thanks to all the work we did with both movies, I became more aware about how to make a claim. This is one of the three things that I need to improve in order to go ahead in this class. The second one is to prepare my thesis-statement together with the structure of my essay. I know that is one the key point of my essay, and what is more, it helps the reader as a guide of my paper structure, but I don’t know how to make it simple. I always have in mind three or four sentences when I only can write one. The third challenge is where to put the summary of the passage in my CAT writing. I get confused with the appropriate location of it. It should be my first paragraph or the second one? In addition I feel that my respond and my summary are very similar.
Now that I have recharged my batteries after spring break, I’m looking forward to receive more CAT practices, and mastering my writing.

Blog Entry 11. CAT-W Practice 3 Revisions posted as
In the passage “The Danger of Reality TV” brought by Buzzle.com, they state that the TV shows are projecting priorities on the competition, more value to the person’s image, and less importance to the education. I agreed that TV shows are telling to the youth that the physical is more important than the talent and the capability, and that the American dream is getting behind in their options.
The participants in TV shows can gain a quickly popularity either if they are good looking or all the apposite. Normal looking people have to work harder to be well known. In 2009, The British TV Show “Idol”, got the world attention when Susan Boy sang the dream song. Together with her voice of angel was her uncommon appearance for a TV show’s person. Her unexpected performance according with her look, gave her a big popularity for a while. At the end, she did not won because the judges were not that fool to select her as the one.
Young people can come with the conclusion that by being accepted in a reality show and taking the opportunity to become well known, they don’t need to go to college. Why should the go for years of hard work and on top of that to carry a debt if there is a easier way to make it. Just fill up as much application as possible and show up to all the auditions around the nation, one of those days will be your day. I remember my friend from my first job, Virginia. I was a junior high school student and she was a freshman in college. She was elected to a realty show called “La Casa the Cristal”(The Glass House). She was one of the semi-final, but did not win. What she got after the show was finished, was a job offer in an entertainment program; even though she was an accounting student. Being at the show changed her life dramatically, and she did not feel any need to continuing college.
I think that the competitions that we are seeing in the programs are acceptable so far, what we have to be careful with it is the risk that this messages are putting to our future teacher, doctors, lawyers , and etc.
Blog Entry 10. Lable the claim, reasons, and evidence.
The question formulated by Dr. J about the discussion of The Matrix, a student called Henry answered that he would deny to take the red pill. He claimed that he won’t put his life in risk because the world that Morpheus presents is already a desert. I disagree with Henry because what more could he put in risk than living in a world of paint. Let say that he takes the blue pill and he goes back to his innocent stage, so won’t be more dangerous to live in a lie? And maybe one day by mistake, you felt and face the true. What a tragedy! Why not to find out right the way and see what you can do for yourself and for others if there is an interest.

Blog Entry 9: Telecommute Report-out.
The Matrix telecommute class was my first online class experience. I felt kind of lonely even though we were all connected at the same time. I missed the physical present of the class. I think we are at the middle of a transfer, because this is a projection of how classes are going to be in the future. It was great that we could get everybody’s idea about the three different topics in 90 minutes. I had problem looking at my own post, but then Gabriel Lang told me that I had to reload the page. I learned how to work live in group from distance.

Blog 8: Responding to a significant topic in The Truman Show
In the movie, The Truman Show, Cristoff the creator prepares what he called “the perfect world” for Truman. In His world people seem to be happy all the time, and it could not be more tentative for anyone to be there. If I would have to decide between the world where we are living and “the perfect world” of Cristoff, I definitely stay where I am today; because in that world of fantasy I could live with limited risks, but my life will have much less sense.
Sea heaven could be physical described as an urban paradise. Where every resident carry a smile on their face and the weather is not an impediment to any kind of activity. The town does not count with any history of violence and we can also say that they don’t know any kind of racial problem. Thus, the family that Truman greets every morning saying: “Good morning, and in case that I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night!” they are people of color, and by what they were wearing, they seem to have a decent economic status. These are some of the problems that Cristoff is trying to leave out of his perfect world.
What he forgot to give them, maybe unintentional, is the motivation that gives people the reason to live. Cristoff had everything well calculated to keep Truman happy in sea heaven, but he did not have a satisfactory idea to calm Truman’s encouragement. When Truman was attending to college, he fell in love with a girl that he met. She also liked Truman but they could not develop their felling because that was not the plan to fallow.
He could not forget those bright blue eyes, and he found refuge in one red sweater that he got from her when she left it at the beach the night when they kissed. Sylvia was the boost that made him to discover the true, his motivation.
A similar significance to this movie has the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. Lowry describes a “save-perfect" community where every individual accomplishes a specific responsibility. In the town all feeling that can provide people joy and pain; happiness and sadness has been taken away from them. There is only one person, the Elder of memories, who preserves all the senses in case they are need for emergency. One day he will have to retire and be replace for some one else, so Jonas, the main character of the story, has been selected as the candidate. He goes for his training and receives most of the basic feeling. Now he can see colors, he can taste, he knows what is love, hate, and etc. Jonas decides to take his litter brother, Gabriel, and flee the community because he feels so different that no one can understand him beside the Elder.
In occasions, like Jonas or Truman, we see ourselves living in a perfect conditions, but with the curiosity of many questions that no one can’t give us the answers. Is on us to go out to look for the answers and find the area were we belong to.
